Wave Energy Conversion

Energy Island have applied for a patent, (GB 0901780.7) for a Lilypad wave energy converter, based on twin linear membranes, one floating on the surface, the other both weighted and valved, immersed below the main action of waves, linked by ties which can either be hose pumps producing hydraulic power, or activate a mechanical power generator. Wave tank and sea going models have been successfully tested.

The system can be used for power generation, but also for breakwaters and erosion control.

Being flexible, it presents little danger to navigation.
